Equity & index derivatives

Index and equity derivatives sit inside the Market Regulation Department — there is no separate derivatives department, since CDMRD was folded into MRD in 2021. One gap worth knowing: the division that sets equities risk-management and settlement policy (Policy & Development 2, which runs the Risk Management Review Committee) is still listed on SEBI's own page under an officer who has since moved to Surveillance, so SEBI publishes no current head for it. Write to the MRD Chief General Managers instead.

This covers the decision-making tiers: the Board, all 13 Executive Directors, the Chief Vigilance Officer, the four Regional Directors, all 63 Chief General Managers, and the Market Regulation Department down to General Manager rank. SEBI's full directory runs to roughly 1,100 staff.

Division-level pages on sebi.gov.in lag the staff directory badly — of the thirteen officers SEBI's own Market Regulation page names, five have since moved departments and one has left. Where that applies, the row is tagged.

For anything procedural, use the institutional desks. Writing directly to a Chief General Manager rarely speeds up a matter that has a designated channel.
